Surah Fatiha

Surah Fatiha is the first Surah of the Holy Quran, the holy book of Islam. Its is first Surah of QURAN, second is Surah BAQARAH. It is known as the “Umm al-Kitab” or “the Origin of the Book” because it summarizes the basic teachings of the Quran.

This Surah is also called “As-Sabul-Masani”, which means “the seven repeated verses,” because it is obligatory to recite it in every rak’ah of every prayer. It is also known as “Surat al-Shifa” (the Surah of Healing) and “Surat al-Du’a” (the Surah of Supplication). It is so important in Islam that no prayer is complete without it. Therefore, Surah Fatiha is not just a Surah, but a reflection of the basic teachings and beliefs of Islam.

Number of verses and place of revelation of Surah Fatiha

Surah Fatiha consists of seven verses and is the first Surah of the Holy Quran. Most Islamic scholars believe that it was revealed in Mecca, but some scholars believe that it was re-revealed in Medina.
